WORKING
STIFF, Sofie Metropolis IV,
in Paperback March 2, 2010!
* * *
Our January Blaze Blazing
Bedtime Stories, Vol III
Still Available Online!
Happy February!
Normally, there's really nothing 'happy' about this month outside Valentine's
Day. It's more of a transitional four weeks of winter blah that we all
must survive to make it to March and spring. But this year...I don't
know... There's such promise and excitement shimmering in the air. Of
course, the fact that WORKING STIFF
is now available for pre-order in paperback may have a little to do
with it. Along with our very busy and fun-packed schedule. Whatever
the reason, we fully intend to squeeze every last drop of enjoyment
out of February...and encourage you to do the same!

We're delighted to share the news that Edwin Buckhalter
of Severn House has picked up the next two books
in our Sofie Metropolis, PI series, with the
5th book to be released in hardcover both in the UK and US late
summer/fall 2010. Woohoo! I'd say that calls for a celebration.
Pieces of Tony's
Famous Baklava all around!
Warm thanks to our agents Robert Gottlieb and
Alanna Ramirez of Trident
Media Group who love our girl Sofie as much as we do. (Look

Reviewers' Choice Nominee
The week before Halloween, a body disappears from Sofie’s
Aunt’s funeral home. It might be a holiday prank, but Sofie’s
barely begun to investigate when she’s handed a truly hot
case: prove the innocence of Little Johnny Laughton who's on trial
for murder! And what happens when sexy Aussie bounty hunter Jake
Porter finally takes her up on her many offers?
Reviews:
"In
Carrington's entertaining fourth Sofie Metropolis novel (after
2007's Foul Play), the Queens Greek-American PI is on the hunt
[again]... [R]romance, humor and appealing characters will keep
readers happily turning the pages." Publishers
Weekly
"I loved this book and probably found it the best of
all the Sofie novels. There’s a genuinely good mystery
embedded in a very funny story... Don’t miss this one; you
will not be disappointed. I can’t wait for the next
Sofie book to come out. I’ll be first in line to get
it!" Jeri Neal, The
Romance Readers Connection
"Funerals,
Missing Dead Bodies and a murder case, oh my. Such is
the life of Sofie Metropolis in her latest adventure, Working
Stiff... I just couldn’t wait for the next chapter to come
so I could see what was going to happen. Tori Carrington has really
outdone herself with this one... [I] can’t wait for the
next Sofie Metropolis installment to see what happens in Sofie’s
life. " Lydia Funneman, Writers

FOUL
PLAY
AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK
A coincidence that even as pro baseball teams everywhere race
toward the pennant that FOUL
PLAY is available in paperback? We think not! The
third title in our SOFIE
METROPOLIS series, celebrates all sports dreamers
as it becomes available for the first time in paperback! (We're
getting numerous reports that readers can't find copies in stores.
If this happens to you, make sure you ask the store to order more!)
Here's the blurb: The wife of Reni Venezuela, a pitching phenom
just signed by Sofie’s beloved New York Mets, arrives on
Sofie’s doorstep in a gigantic bright yellow Hummer and
declares that something is wrong with her husband. Can Sofie find
out what even as things heat up with yummy Greek baker Dino and
Aussie bounty hunter Jake Porter?
In case you missed the hardcover edition last year, here are a
few reviews for FOUL
PLAY:
"Smart,
sassy Sofie knocks the ball out of Shea Stadium in this colorful
concoction." Publishers
Weekly
"If you like Stephanie Plum, you've got to meet Sofie
Metropolis - she's a keeper!" Merry, Annie's
Book Stop, Sharon, MA
"While
retaining all the humor and off-kilter exploits that have made
this series such a delight, Carrington's latest shows Sofie's
growing confidence in her instincts and abilities. This writing
duo excels at delivering both giggles and gasps, and they have
another winner." Romantic Times

Last Stop, Ditmars
We've contributed a novella to Queens Noir, a collection
of crime stories set in the gritty NY Borrough, including mysteries
by Jimmy Breslin, Denis Hamill
and Malachy McCourt. Here's what Publishers
Weekly has to say: "The husband-and-wife team
writing as Tori Carrington (Sofie Metropolis) weighs in with a gritty
whodunit set in a Greek diner in 'Last Stop, Ditmars...' [T]here’s
plenty to enjoy here for Akashic completists and anyone who’s
ever cheered (or jeered) the Mets."
The anthology is available now from Akashic
Books, and features Sofie's uncle
Spyros Metropolis, and is set before she signs
on at his agency. Our thanks to author Robert
Knightly, and Bonnie and Joe
of Manhattan's Black
Orchid Mystery Bookstore for leading us to this exciting
project, and for our TDA
editor Melissa Ann Singer for encouraging us to
take it on. Order your copy now by clicking here. |

TEN
TITLES IN 2010!
Yes,
you read that right. Ten books bearing the Tori Carrington name will
become available in various formats this year. From BLAZING
BEDTIME STORIES, Vol III last month, the connecting
three Blaze titles PRIVATE
SESSIONS, PRIVATE AFFAIRS
and PRIVATE PARTS later
in the year, to the paperback edition of WORKING
STIFF - Sofie Metropolis #4 in March, and a brand spanking
new Sofie Metropolis hardcover
later this year, we would have been thrilled with these six titles alone.
But we're happy to report that Harlequin is also reiussing our RT
Award-Winning Silhouette Special Edition THE WOMAN
FOR DUSTY CONRAD in their Special 50-Book
Men in Uniform Collection, and our 3-Book Blaze
miniseries SLEEPING WITH
SECRETS, with the first title Forbidden available
as a fee e-Book download this summer, followed by a two-in-one paperback
of Indecent and Wicked the following
month (which really makes it nine total titles, but ten actual books
- have I confused you?). These four reissues are particularly special
to us because they're all set here in NW Ohio, with the miniseries set
exclusively in Toledo, Ohio.
For more information on all nine, refer to our Book
List by clicking here.

"In Working Stiff, the Karayiannis deliver another
entertaining story of their "Greek Nancy Drew" who has an attitude
to match her sense of adventure. And they do it in a way that will make
you look forward to Sofie's next adventure. Yes, they're back. And hopefully
soon they will be back yet again."
Erica Blake, The
Toledo Blade
"The evolution of Sofie Metropolis from devastated non-bride to self-confident
woman has been a huge part of the charm of these novels. While humor is
still a factor in this one, the focus is more on Sofie's developing deductive
skills. A creepy plot with plenty of chills and action makes this time
well spent." Catherine Witmer, Romantic
Times
"Tori Carrington has done it again in the continuing misadventures
of Sofie Metropolis. I simply adore this well written series, and WORKING
STIFF is no exception... With its heart stopping action and funny but
realistic characters, I highly recommend you add WORKING STIFF to your
book shopping list today." Patti

"I had a

"Working Stiff is
another thrilling installment in the life and cases of Sofie Metropolis.
[W]atching the interaction between the characters - her family, friends,

to find out what happens next."
Kathy Andrico - KathysReviewCorner.com

"This fast-paced book captures the colorful Greek community of Astoria
where Sofie navigates between the expectations of her Greek upbringing
and the desires of her heart to be an independent and strong woman."

"Tori Carrington has a hit with this oddball mystery that is in the
same class as Stephanie Plum... The novel is a delightful first installment
